AHAs
AHA stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acids. AHAs are chemical compounds that can either be naturally occurring or synthetic (For example, Glycolic Acid is derived from sugarcane). AHAs are a form of chemical exfoliation and are used as an alternative to manual or granular scrubs. They work by dissolving the bonds between skin cells to allow for the removal of dead skin. This subsequently provides a more even, smooth and radiant complexion.
Cell Renewal
The cells on the top layer of our skin (the stratum corneum) are in a constant process of renewal. The average skin cycle is 28 days long although this cycle slows as we age. Shedding old skin cells stimulates the formation of new, healthy ones.
Hyperpigmentation
Hyperpigmentation is a medical term used to describe darker patches of skin. They are caused by an overproduction of melanin (the cell that gives our skin its colour) and can occur for many reasons such as sun damage, changes in hormones, acne scarring etc.
Niacinamide
Also known as Vitamin B3, Niacinamide is a highly effective skin-restoring ingredient. It helps to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, fine lines and prevents a dull complexion. It also helps to repair damage caused to the skin by UV radiation and pollutants.
