How to keep your skin stress free this Christmas

BASE SKNCARE

Although the week’s leading up to the big day are full of excitement and anticipation for many, they can also cause heightened stress levels. The extra-long shopping lists, bustling social calendars and general busyness can all make us feel frazzled. And as we well know, stress wreaks havoc with our skin in a multitude of ways.

But don’t worry...Getting your complexion back on track is one thing I can help tick off your to-do list. So let’s start by banishing one of the most common stress induced concerns…

For breakouts...

Stress triggers the production of a hormone called cortisol, which prompts oil glands to crank out more oil. Increased oil production can lead to clogged pores, which in turn causes inflammation. The two together are a perfect partnership for breeding breakouts and blemishes…Just what you wanted for Christmas, right?! 😉

Thankfully, they are easily treated. All you need to do is apply 3-4 drops of our Exfoliating Cell Renewal Serum each evening to your entire face and then, go back and dab an extra drop over any active blemishes. The gentle acids in the formula will take them down faster than Santa flies around the world on Christmas Eve.

For dryness and irritation...

It is also quite possible that you may have found your stress levels have sent your skin in the opposite direction and your complexion is now dry and irritated.

This is because that excess cortisol (which is most certainly not on the nice list!!) can also weaken your skin barrier. This leaves your skin vulnerable to moisture loss and outside irritants. In this case, you want to practice my soak-and-seal technique.

Simply apply 1 pump of our Super Serum which is packed full of hyaluronic acid; the ingredient that binds moisture to your skin. Immediately after you’ve ‘soaked’ your skin with the serum, you want to 'seal' it into place with our Ultimate Moisturiser. They’ll instantly work together to restore your skin barrier, leaving your skin revived and replenished.

For dull, sallow skin...

Another consequence of prolonged stress is a dull, sallow and generally lacklustre complexion. When you’re stressed, your body is forced to send more blood to your vital organs so they can keep up and less is delivered to your skin cells. This means they receive fewer nutrients and less oxygen too.

To undo any damage and get your skin glowing brighter than the Christmas tree, look no further than face massage. It dramatically increases blood flow and relaxes your mind and body at the same time.

It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, even small circular motions for an extra minute as you cleanse will have a big impact. If you need a little more guidance though, I have heaps of videos you can follow along with under the ‘Reels’ tab of our Instagram.

A combination of all these little tips will have your skin looking merry and bright over the coming weeks. Remember to treat yourself kindly and to take each day as it comes 🥰

Enjoy the festivity-filled week ahead,
