The Biggest Skincare Trends For 2023
Whilst we’re still embracing the newness of 2023 though, I wanted to take this opportunity to share my thoughts on this year’s predicted skincare trends. Some are brilliant and some are slightly mindboggling. So, here are the bandwagons to jump on, and the ones you can let pass you by over the next 12 months…
✔️ Multi-Functional Products
Over the years in clinic, I’ve seen many clients using 3-4 separate serums at once to target different concerns. They would religiously apply each one in their routine but unfortunately, never saw any results.
As there is only so much that your skin can absorb, by the time they had applied their second serum, their skin was already overloaded and the products had become ineffective.
This is why multi-functional skincare is on the rise. If we take our Super Serum as an example, it combines your Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Peptide serums in one formula to target dehydration, dullness and wrinkles.
In my opinion, multi-functional products are complete game-changers as they not only save both time and money, but actually deliver results too.
✔️ ‘Notox’ Treatments
‘Notox’ is the term used for alternative treatments to Botox and is expected to become a big trend in 2023.
Although Botox is great for temporarily freezing wrinkles by paralysing your muscles, I know many of my clients often worry about the risk of reaction, potential complications and side effects.
That’s why non-injectable treatments such as skin peels, resurfacers and our Pure Roller are a brilliant alternative. By solely treating your skin rather than your muscles, they stimulate your skin’s natural collagen production for long term, anti-wrinkle results, without any complications.
Both Botox and ‘Notox’ have a place in the skincare world, what you choose comes down to personal preference. As an expert, I’m just delighted that there is now more awareness of all the options available, as it allows you to find a solution that works for you and your skin.
❌ Body Care as Skincare
Unfortunately, using your body products on your face isn’t a winner for me and here’s why.
Firstly, the skin on your face is far thinner than the skin on your body, so it becomes damaged and sensitised more easily. Secondly, your face is constantly exposed to the outside elements, whereas your body spends most of its time shielded by your clothes. Therefore these 2 separate areas require totally different treatments.
For the denser skin from the neck down, a thick, rich body cream will work wonders for hydration levels and leave your pins silky smooth. However, if you applied the same cream to your face, it would likely cause more breakouts than you’ve had since you were a teenager and be too heavy to absorb and target your complexion concerns.
Instead, your face requires a complete routine applied in thin layers so they can prevent, correct and protect the delicate skin. So, I’m hoping this trend is fleeting and actively encourage you to keep body butters for your body and our Proactive Age Kit for your face.
✔️ Skincare Backed by Science
This one made my inner nerd so happy! When I was studying Aesthetics and Cosmetology, my class dreaded our Anatomy and Physiology lesson every week. But I secretly looked forward to it. To me, learning about the layers of the skin, our hormones, digestion etc. allowed me to understand how to get the best from our complexion. So, it’s no surprise that I only like skincare that is backed by science too and I’m thrilled that it’s getting the attention it deserves.
For those who don’t know, BASE is actually an acronym, and the ‘A’ stands for ‘active ingredients’. Active ingredients are ones that have been scientifically proven to deliver results and that’s why they power every one of our products. So, when I talk about how they will transform your skin, you can rest assured that it’s not spiel, it’s fact.
Fingers crossed this trend is here to stay for years to come.
And that’s the 2023 skincare predictions in a nutshell! Let’s take what we love, leave what we don’t and I’ll continue to guide to you through all you need to know for the rest of the year 🥰
