The one skincare product you don't need...
Today we’re talking about a subject that has cropped up quite a few times in my ‘Ask Amy’ segment on Instagram…Toners!
It’s a skincare product that often causes much confusion due to the very traditional and now outdated ‘cleanse, tone, moisturise’ routine. So I thought I’d help to set the record straight.
The first and most popular question I have received is...
‘Will a toner help to close my pores?’
This is quite understandably a common misconception, but as pores are not connected to a muscle, they are unable to open and close with or without the use of a toner.
Instead switch to our Exfoliating Cell Renewal Serum that contains 5 AHAs to keep your pores clear, unclogged and beautifully refined.
The next question was a brilliant follow-up to my answer above…you guys are always ahead of the game!
‘If a toner doesn’t close your pores, what is it for and when do you use it in your routine?’
So, toning is always the next step after cleansing and it was initially developed to remove any excess cleanser and to rebalance the pH of your skin. Which is why I’ve always questioned the need for it…
If you use a quality cleanser like our Hot Cloth Cleanser, the pH is automatically balanced for you and the cloth ensures thorough removal. This eradicates any need for a toner in a modern, results-driven routine.
As always, thank you so much for sending me all your skincare questions and please keep them coming! You can send them in via our social channels or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org 🥰
