3 Daily habits giving you wrinkles

3 Daily habits giving you wrinkles

Today I'm sharing a few of the most simple daily habits that can be held responsible for deep wrinkle formation. They are such tiny steps in our day to day lives that we barely notice them, but over time their impact compounds and the effects become more permanent.

So, let’s take a look at how to correct these little mishaps and take years off our complexions…

#1. Avoid scrolling, scrolling, scrolling!

Before I start, please know I’m working to break each of these habits with you. Almost every time I open a social media app to post my own video, I’m distracted by the first piece of content I see and so, the scrolling begins. Not only does this hinder my productivity, but over time, it can cause neck lines and a loss of facial firmness too.

Repeatedly looking down towards your phone creates a lot of tension in your neck muscles. This means they gradually become tighter and shorter which eventually causes your facial muscles to be pulled south, leading to sagging skin.

Fortunately, there a few easy ways to combat this. Firstly, try holding your phone at eye level when you’re using it and you’ll avoid the tension altogether. The other thing you can do is stretch your neck muscles daily to elongate them. I’ll link a video where I show you exactly how to do it here.

#2. No Rub A Dub Dub

Often, we rub our eyes during the day without even realising it. They get tired from staring into our computer screens, irritated by allergies or, flaky mascara begins to annoy them. But, as the skin in this area is the thinnest across our entire body, we need to be extra careful.

Continual pulling and tugging stretches your skin and breaks down your collagen and elastin fibres. It also damages the fragile blood vessels in the area meaning the blood pools underneath, creating a dark, shadowy and lined appearance.

So, each time you catch yourself doing it, gently move your hands away and eventually you’ll become more aware and break the habit. As for correcting any current damage, The Miracle Eye Complex and TLC Roller are a dream team.

The Complex targets fine lines, dark circles and puffiness in just one drop and the Roller will turbocharge your collagen levels in just 2 treatments a week!

#3. Sleep like a baby...

Both of my parents are champion sleepers, so it’s no surprise that I could sleep for England too! However, as I sleep so deeply, my face often ended up smooshed into my pillow.

This creates deep creases across your face and as the average head weighs 11lbs, it can also add lots of pressure to existing expression lines too. When we’re young, these lines fade away within minutes of waking up, but with age they tend to become more permanent features.

To keep them at bay, we have a couple of options. Firstly, you can try to retrain yourself to sleep on your back like you did when you were a baby. I’ve been practising this for years, but have to be honest and say it does feel totally unnatural for me. I often find I can fall asleep on my back, but staying there is an entirely different matter 🙈

So, I invested in an anti-ageing pillow instead. It has head-shaped grooves cut out on both the left and right, so you can sleep soundly on your side without a wrinkle in sight.

As with everything in life, we should never overlook the little things. Correcting these tiny habits in the present will have transformative effects in the future and alongside your 5 Minute Kit, will keep your skin healthy and youthful 💕
