Margot Robbie's Skin Secrets That Helped Her Prepare For Barbie

How Margot Robbie became Barbie

I don’t know about you, but every time I’ve opened my phone this week I’ve been greeted by Barbie mania!

Although it may surprise you to know that I’m not a Barbie girl myself, I was totally fascinated by the prep that went into making Margot Robbie look like a real life doll…

Just as Tom Cruise has personal trainers and nutritionists on hand to get him in shape for his Mission Impossible films, Margot was prescribed her very own skin expert, Jasmina Vico, to ensure she appeared perfectly polished.

Personally, I believe Jasmina was selected for the job due to her rare and forward thinking approach to outward beauty. Rather than focusing on the usual nips and tucks we may have expected to hear about, she prioritised an ‘inside out’ approach instead.

Jasmina quite rightly says ‘Skin is connected to your body; you’ve got to include the diet and lifestyle’, and I couldn't agree more if you want the best results.

So, what did she prescribe Margot?

The treatment itself is called the ‘gut x skin protocol’ and started by enhancing the health of her digestive system. The idea behind this is it reduces stress and inflammation within the body to create that bright, clear, glass-like skin that Barbie is famous for.

This meant probiotics every morning alongside other anti-inflammatory supplements, fermented foods such as sauerkraut and kefir to heal her tummy and mugs full of organic milk thistle tea. The tea helps to flush the liver and detoxify the skin quickly to achieve that Barbie-esque complexion.

Jasmina also worked to lower Margot’s stress levels by incorporating meditation and breathing exercises into her daily routine - Her favourite technique being the renowned Wim Hoff Method. It combines cold water therapy with breath work to calm the body’s nervous system and balance cortisol levels.

Cortisol is your body’s stress hormone and too much of it causes your skin to produce excess oil leading to clogged pores, blackheads and spots. So by keeping Margot as relaxed as possible during perhaps the biggest role of her career, ensured her skin was always naturally airbrushed.

Of course, it goes without saying that Jasmina’s weekly facials were prescribed too and it’s this unique combination of internal and external treatment, that allowed her to get as close to Barbie as humanly possible.

Fortunately, none of us are portraying a real-life doll anytime soon and therefore don’t need to take such an extreme approach. But with that being said, I do completely agree that this inside out philosophy is the key to beautiful skin.

This is why you will often hear me sharing the benefits of pairing The 5 Minute Kit with a balanced lifestyle and nutritious diet. The Kit will take care of ALL your complexion needs topically and to boost radiance internally, you simply need to focus on taking care of yourself day to day.

This could be as simple as a quick yoga stretch after a day at your desk, reading a book in the bath when it all feels a bit much, or adding a handful of spinach to your morning smoothie…It all makes a difference.

So although I’m not a Barbie girl, I think I may have to reconsider my stance and go and see the movie. In a situation that could have become entirely plastic, I wholeheartedly love and appreciate Jasmina’s refreshingly natural approach.

I’ll report back with my review and swap the bucket of popcorn for a cup of milk thistle tea, in her honour 🥰
