I’ve been celebrating since Friday because Will and I have officially been together for 15 years. Genuinely, my proudest achievement ✨
We’re also on the countdown to our wedding in August…I know, about flipping time! And I asked on Instagram if you’d like to see a series on how I’m preparing and it was a resounding ‘yes please!’ ☺️
So, consider this the first instalment where I’m sharing the 3 things I’m not doing before the big day…
1. Getting Botox...
Amongst my generation, pre-wedding Botox has become quite the trend. The idea is to ‘refresh’ and ‘awaken’ your face and I promise, there’s no judgement if you’ve chosen this…In fact, more of my friends did than didn’t 🙌🏼
For me, I just love that faces tell stories. I have no doubt it’ll be the most emotional, joy-filled day of our lives and I want that written all over our faces. I can’t wait to see the photos where our noses wrinkle with laughter, our eyes crease with happy tears and our eyebrows raise at the best man’s speech 😂
Of course, I’ll never skip my 5 Minute Kit because I want my skin to be outrageously glowy. I just don’t want to erase any of those expressions I’ll treasure forever.
2. Crash Dieting...
This is another trend that plagued my teens, so I’m really proud that I haven’t even thought about ‘slimming down’ for the big day.
I had my dress made, which meant taking exact measurements. And honestly, there was a time I’d have starved before doing that, but I didn’t even consider it.
Will and I did them together in the bedroom, full of excitement and contentment, knowing my body is more than enough exactly as it is. So there will be zero deprivation beforehand and I know my mind, body and skin will thank me for it.
3. Aiming for perfection...
Do I think our wedding will be the most magical day I’ve experienced? Yes ♥️ But am I putting pressure on everything being picture perfect? Absolutely not 🥰
I’ve decided to get ready on my own and do my own hair and makeup because that’s when I feel most comfortable. There will likely be little hairs out of place, nail varnish that doesn’t quite reach the cuticle and brows my tweezers won’t catch.
But I know I’ll feel calm, poised and too excited to even notice. My focus will be on seeing everyone we love in one room, dancing the night away and finally saying ‘I do’ to Mr BASE himself 🤵🏻👰🏻♀️
So while I keep counting down the days, let me know if you’d like to hear the things I am doing in this series and I’ll be delighted to share ♥️
