How I got healthier hair & stronger nails

How I got healthier hair & stronger nails

Jan 25, 2026 Amy x

Since Youthfuel launched, one of the most popular questions I've been asked is whether it helps with hair and nails too. And it genuinely surprised me...Firstly because I spend all of my time talking about skin and secondly, because I hadn't realised just how many of us struggle in these departments.

So let me be completely honest. Youthfuel was primarily developed as a skin supplement. However, it contains all the ingredients you'd typically find in a traditional skin, hair and nails capsule, and many more. So as a natural byproduct, you will see improvements across all three.

Mine have genuinely never looked better. But I firmly believe supplements work best when paired with healthy lifestyle habits, so here are the ones that have made the biggest difference for me.

How I Fixed My Fragile Hair

A couple of years ago I learned that hair is at its most fragile when it's wet. So now I always brush out any knots before I shower, meaning I only need to gently comb through it afterwards. That one change alone has been transformational.

When it comes to shampooing, I focus on my roots. A good massage there removes oily build-up and increases circulation for healthy growth, while also meaning I'm not overworking the delicate ends. Which I simply coat with conditioner to keep them nourished and glossy.

Then right before bed, I pop my hair into a loose top knot with a silk scrunchie. It stops any breakage while I sleep, and for someone with fine, limp hair, it adds a surprising amount of volume come morning.

How I Fixed My Weak Nails

One of the biggest shifts for my nails has been increasing my protein intake. I promise I'm not a macro-counting fitness fanatic (I couldn't be further from it). I made this change to support my energy levels and help my IBS, and stronger, longer nails were a very welcome bonus.

I also gave up nail polishes and gels. I know that feels like a step too far for many of you, but every time I removed them it was obvious my nails were suffocating underneath. I liken it to wearing full-coverage foundation 24/7 and still expecting your skin to glow. So I've embraced a neatly manicured natural nail instead...I'm calling it Parisian chic.

And whenever I want extra shine, I massage a drop of The Everything Oil into my cuticles. It was developed with this in mind, and the vitamin E, rosehip and jojoba oils help strengthen the nail plate, improve flexibility and encourage growth. Even two applications a week makes a visible difference.

Small Habits, Big Results

That's it. Small, everyday habits that have taken my fine, limp and fragile features and made me feel genuinely Rapunzel-esque. For the first time in my life I've even had hair compliments, and I can't wait to hear all about yours too.
