The Most Googled Questions About Skin Ageing - Answered By Amy Frith A Skin Expert at BASE SKNCARE

Answering your most Googled skin ageing questions!

BASE SKNCARE

I thought I’d share some fascinating, skin ageing news that totally blew my mind this week!

Every year Google releases its most asked questions for each industry and when I read the 'skin ageing' category, they perfectly matched the most asked questions in clinic. This got me thinking that if everyone else is searching for the answers, perhaps you are too?

So today, I’m going to answer them as clearly and concisely as possible, so that good old Google doesn’t have to…Ready?

‘How to add Retinol in skincare routine?’

This was potentially the most asked question in clinic until we launched BASE. As I’m sure many of you know, Retinol is a true hero ingredient of the skincare world. It’s scientifically proven to reduce signs of skin ageing in a multitude of ways, which it’s why it’s so highly regarded.

With that being said, it can be a total nightmare to add into your routine. This is because Retinol comes in varying strengths, and some are so strong that they require a prescription. Common side effects of introducing it include redness, irritation, itching and even skin peeling…Which understandably, causes issues.

When developing our range one of my biggest goals was to create a product that allowed you to use Retinol daily and achieve all the incredible results, with none of the side effects.

To do this, I added a gentle form of it to our moisturiser. The nourishing texture buffers the Retinol so you can achieve totally rejuvenated, younger-looking skin, whilst also restoring your skin barrier for a soft, supple complexion. There’s nothing else quite like this formula, making it the easiest way to add Retinol into your routine. It’s why we named it the Ultimate Moisturiser.

‘How to get rid of dark circles?’

Ah, these pesky things happen to us all at some point, which I guess is why it’s been so Googled! Whether we’re stressed, hungover or sleep deprived our eyes will tell the story, but thankfully there is lots we can do to help.

When you wake up with dark eyes the first thing you want to do is go and get yourself a big glass of water - hydration is going to help flush the toxins from your body. Next, take a couple of drops of the Proactive Age Eye Complex and massage it into place using cold spoons.

The Complex contains the most incredible marine ingredient called Brighlette, which works to reduce the production of pigment in this area. This leaves you with instantly brighter, wide-awake eyes and massaging it in with cold spoons accelerates circulation, to achieve the results even faster. As a bonus, it will also conquer any puffiness that’s decided to join the party too!

‘What is AHA in skincare?’

I’m often conscious that this one can be confusing when I’m talking about it in posts, so I’m going to simplify as best I can here.

AHA stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acids. They are forms of chemical exfoliants that help to gently remove dead skin cells, from the top layer of your skin. This leaves your complexion clear, glowing and even and refines your pores too.

The reason I’m so obsessed with them is because they are far more effective than the common alternative of face scrubs. Face scrubs, in my opinion, are far too aggressive and abrasive and can cause significant damage to your skin leaving it dry, inflamed and irritated.

It's for this reason, I created our Exfoliating Cell Renewal Serum as a liquid exfoliant containing 5 AHAs. You apply it as you would a regular serum each evening and it works through the night to unveil tighter, brighter, clearer skin every single morning, with no irritation at all.

‘What does Vitamin C do for skin?’

Vitamin C is another science-backed, powerhouse of an ingredient that is adored by many. Its main role is to provide antioxidant protection for your skin. This means it shields your skin cells from environmental damage allowing it to prevent the formation of pigmentation, premature ageing and sun damage.

It keeps your skin even, radiant and youthful and is always best absorbed in serum form, which is why it’s packed into our Super Serum. The Super Serum carries the antioxidant deep into your skin and keeps it fully protected with just one pump each morning and night.
