3 Chinese medicine habits I swear by...

3 Chinese medicine habits I swear by...

Feb 15, 2026 Amy x

Thank you so much for voting for this week's blog over on Instagram. It seems that like me, so many of you are fascinated by Chinese medicine, especially with Chinese New Year just around the corner.

I've always loved pairing this more holistic approach to wellness with my science led training. I have seen the two work wonders together time and time again. Not just for skin, but for overall wellbeing.

So if you are curious about where to start, here are the 3 Chinese medicine inspired habits I return to again and again.

1. Warmth Is the Secret Sauce

One of the biggest shifts I ever made was choosing warmth, especially first thing. In Chinese medicine, warmth is thought to support circulation, hydration and lymph flow. And in real life terms, that often means less puffiness, less dullness and a face that feels a little more awake.

So instead of starting my day with icy drinks and raw foods, I prioritise warm water and warm meals whenever I can. It sounds small but it makes a noticeable difference to how my body feels and how my skin looks. It also explains why I am never without a bottle of warm water.

2. Check Up From the Neck Up

I spend so much time talking about facial skincare, but in Chinese medicine the scalp and neck are just as important. The goal is to keep circulation moving because when blood flow is sluggish, skin can look dull and tired.

This is why scalp massage has stood the test of time and why that hairdresser head massage feels so incredible. It releases tension and boosts circulation, which helps your face look more relaxed, less lined and naturally brighter.

So I try to recreate that salon feeling at home when I wash my hair. I do slow circles with my fingertips for 30 to 60 seconds, then sweep down the sides of my neck towards my collarbones to drain the stress away. It is an instant glow up.

3. Rest, Digest and Glow

Chinese medicine is big on the idea that your skin reflects what is happening internally and I could not agree more.

Deep sleep is when your skin repairs, restores and rebuilds collagen. And the gut-skin connection is very real. When digestion is struggling it often shows up on your skin as breakouts, sensitivity or that feeling of skin that just will not behave.

This is why I prioritise sleep like it is skincare, and why I support my gut with the pre and probiotics in Youthfuel. When your body is supported from the inside, your skin naturally follows.

Small Habits, Lasting Glow

Three simple habits rooted in thousands of years of wisdom and completely achievable alongside your existing routine. Here is to glowing your way into the Chinese New Year.
